Chiclana offers kilometres of Atlantic beach a short hop from Chicland stays. From the vast La Barrosa Beach to the Sancti Petri area and quieter corners like La Puntilla, the pace is set by soft wind, long sunset light and a sea made for walking as much as swimming.
La Barrosa Beach
Almost eight kilometres of fine sand facing the Atlantic: La Barrosa is Chiclana’s signature beach. Wide, family-friendly and well served in season, it is perfect for full beach days, long walks and a chiringuito stop. To the south, the Sancti Petri islet draws an unmistakable silhouette.
- Best photo light: sunrise and late afternoon.
- Wear comfortable shoes — the promenade invites a longer walk.
- In peak season, arrive early for a quieter stretch.
Sancti Petri and Novo Sancti Petri
The Sancti Petri area blends beach, marina and the castle on the islet. Classic Cádiz postcard scenery: pale sand, usually clear shallows and sunsets that linger. Ideal if you want beauty and atmosphere without giving up amenities.
- The castle looks best at dusk from the beach.
- Boat trips may be available depending on season.
- Swim in the morning, stroll as the sun goes down.
La Puntilla and nearby coves
Beyond the long sweep of La Barrosa, the stretch towards Sancti Petri offers more intimate sandy corners with dunes and pines behind. Perfect for a quieter swim and that true Costa de la Luz feeling.
- Watch the tides — they change the character of the shore.
- Sunscreen and water: some stretches have little shade.
- A nice contrast to the livelier Barrosa atmosphere.
Tips for enjoying the coast
